Jul 9, 2019 · Essentially, Harry ends up picking up a cat the night he summons the Knight Bus and brings it along with him, eventually deciding to make it a second familiar, after Hedwig. Any fics where Harry was a Dragon, Dragon Animagus, or has a pet/friend/bond/etc as a Dragon. . Perhaps the jackal was rescued by Harry during one of his trips to a magical forest. Instead of giving into the growing impulse to harm his best friend, he heads north to lose himself hiking the Appalachian Trail. It was injured and Harry nursed it back to health, and from then on, it became his loyal pet. Case in point: His biggest adventure involved having a giant magical snake set on him by a magical book that was magically eating his friend's little sister's soul. Along the way, he finds a loyal dog who leads him to all the members of a new family he never thought he'd have. His Loyal Pet is pretty good, still a work in progress with only 7 chapters but I think you will like it. In fanfiction, this would show Harry's kind heart and his connection to all living things, magical or not.
